Oktoberfests Are Coming Your Way, Tampa Bay

Fall is a favorite season for many simply because of cooler weather. For us, it's the Oktoberfest celebrations. With so many events coming up in next couple months, there's something for everyone and enough steins to go around.

Tampa Oktoberfest

The 6th Annual Oktoberfest Tampa tradition kicks off October 9th and continues through October 11th. Come celebrate with German cheer, dancing and singing to cooler weather and colder beer along the Hillsborough river downtown at the Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park. Learn new customs and sing a few songs. Help tap the inaugural keg Friday, Oktober 9th, as the doors open to Tampa's largest Oktoberfest.

With the Tampa area fast becoming the epicenter of craft beer production in Florida, it’s fitting that the upcoming sixth annual Oktoberfest Tampa 2015 will have its own signature beer for the first time. Coppertail Brewing Company is brewing a German style dunkel (a dark lager) that will make its debut at the Oktoberfest.

“We’re excited to be bringing this new lager to the people of Tampa; it’s a very special occasion for us,” says Nicol Winkler, co-founder of Oktoberfest Tampa.

Approximately 10,000 people are expected to attend the festival which features food — German brats, pretzels and pastries — plus beer, wine, music and games. Kent Bailey, owner of Coppertail, is expecting to produce more than 1,500 gallons of Tampa Oktoberfest Dunkel with head brewer Casey Hughes.

There also will be special keg tappings of beers from Tampa Bay Brewing CompanyThe event also will feature German music, Alphorn players, Schuplatt dancers and tons of German games.
